What is the Paulite Web?
The Paulite Web is the website of the Alumni of St. Paul's School in Darjeeling, India. While it is privately hosted and maintained, it has been adopted as the defacto official website of the school's alumni association known as the Old Paulites Association (OPA).

How did this site come about?
While the history of the Old Paulites' Association dates back, I believe, to the very early 1900s - 1906 to be exact, this website's origins date back to only 1994 and while the OPA started in Calcutta, the website was created by Zubin M (85) in the USA.
Jack N., Syed H, Surajit K and Zubin M (all 1985 vintage) actually started an internet mailing group in early 1994 when the web was still in its infancy. Since then, the actual site was taken over and created by Zubin M and his hosted and maintained pro bono on my private domain.
I also believe that this is the FIRST INDIAN ALUMNI SITE TO EVER HIT THE INTERNET!

How do I register my information with this site?
You must have studied in St. Paul's Darjeeling for even a short while to register with this site. Alternatively, if you were a member of the faculty or staff, you can register also. Alumni can go to this page to register while Faculty and Staff can register here.

Does it cost anything to be part of this site?
NO. This site is free to use and free to register with as long as you meet the requirements of registration. Since this site maintained on a pro-bono basis I ask that you respect the rules of the site.

I want to search for my classmates, how do I do that?
This site only maintains email addresses and locations of OPs who have registered on this site. The various other OPAs may have a bigger list of OPs. You can search for a friend or classmate from the Email Search Page. Faculty and Staff can be found on the Faculty Staff Page

I registered. Why does my name not show up in the email search?
When completed properly, registrations are uploaded to the database in short time. If you find that you did complete the registration but your name did not show up, please do a search for my name and send me an email. (Sorry... but if I put my email address here, spam engines find it and you know the rest of the story *GRIN*)

How do I access the Member Site?
Userid and Passwords to the Member Site will be sent to you when your information is uploaded to the database. Sorry - that's just the way it is.

I forgot my password, how can I get it?
Passwords will be sent to you via email if you email Zubin (do a search on the Email Search page for the email - I can't make everything *that* easy for you, right? *grin*). There are two conditions for getting the password via email. 1) You are already registered on the site and your information has been uploaded to the database (which means I can search for you in the database). 2) For security reasons, the password will ONLY be sent to the registered email address. If your email address has changed, you will need to re-register ALL your information again.

My information has changed, how can I update the information on the site?
To update any information, go to the Registration Page and continue to Step 1a. Search for your name and if it is registered, click the UPDATE button. You will then get the steps needed to update your entry. Under NO circumstances will email notifications be accepted - its just too much work for me. I would appreciate your understanding in this.

How do I post a message for others to see?
There is a message board in the Members' Site. If you have your userid and password, use the message board. Mass emails will not be sent out to the group unless it is for an Official OPA-related cause and it should come from one of the OPA Officers only.

My son/brother/uncle/father studies/teaches/works at St. Paul's. Can you give him a message?
No. Sorry. This site is hosted in the USA and as such we only have email contact with some of the school's faculty via their personal email addresses. They have given us these emails as a matter of courtesy to be able to contact them for official reasons and we can not abuse that priviledge to forward messages to students or other faculty members - unless it is an absolute emergency. The Official School Website may have a way to contact someone on the Hill.

Due to privacy reasons, information on the various OPAs are only available on the Members' Site. You can however, get in touch with THE OPA in Calcutta from the Mailbox Page.
