PAULITE WEB - Poems By Tony Davies
Absent Friends
|
This is for all Paulites who have gone before,
And passed through Death's ever open door,
Though from this earthly realm you're gone,
With us your memory will linger on.
If you died through illness, after many a long hour,
We'd have brought you relief, if we'd had the power.
Now your pain is over, and you have peace once more,
For with your passing, it is those you have left, who are poor.
If you fell in battle, and the cause was just,
Then you died for us, for we gave you our trust
And we know in truth, that you would do it again,
For the fight for freedom is never in vain.
And if we are lucky, and die peaceful in bed,
And all our last goodbyes have been said,
We'll then rest in peace, and toil no more,
And there'll be old friends to guide us, through Death's open door
This is for all Paulites who have gone before,
And passed through Death's ever open door,
The circle of life and death never ends,
In our hearts you live on, you're just absent, my friends.
