PAULITE WEB - Poems By Tony Davies

Remember when the rains came?
Bringing out the galoshes
Kitted out against the storm
With umbrellas and mackintoshes
Sailing boats around the drains
Racing to see which came first
Chasing their rapid progress
Till our lungs were fit to burst!
Sitting in the prep hall
Watching the rain pour down
Watching it run down from the quarry
In rivers of muddy brown.
Then one day the sun came
But we knew it wouldn't stay
So we'd send along our Captain
To ask for a "sunshine holiday"
And if our wish was granted
And the day was ours to play
We'd make the most of the time we had
For tomorrow it could rain all day!
