PAULITE WEB - Poems By Tony Davies
Starched Collars, Polished Shoes
|
Sunday morning -- Dormitory buzzing,
Shoes polished to perfection,
A hive of activity all around,
To be ready for the Rector's inspection.
Beds made up -- Slippers in place,
A short time for reflection,
A few adjustments to starched collars,
To be ready for the Rector's inspection.
Lockers open -- Shelves wiped down,
Time for a last minute correction,
Everything in just the right place,
It's time for the Rector's inspection.
The stage is set - You've done all you can,
Even called on the Gods for protection!
All you can do now is stand by your bed
And wait for the Rector's inspection!
It's quiet now -- The room is still,
Of effort, there was a massive injection,
It's over now -- a sigh of relief,
You've passed the Rector's inspection!
